The energy turnaround already startet – at least on the fife-hectare estate of EUREF-Campus around the old gasometer in Berlin-Schöneberg. In this central area they develope the vision of "tomorrow's intelligent city".

By 2037, 23% of the electricity provision of Berlin might be from renewables, at the condition that smart grids be implemented. Moreover, the city could increase its CO2-free power supply from today 25 percent up to nearly 60 percent. This is the result of a study carried out by the Technical University of Berlin with the support of Siemens AG and Vattenfall Europe AG.
